Honk honk, baa baa – what we’re reading

IMG_8293Honk Honk! Baa Baa! by Petr Horacek is a really unique and fun board book. It is a really simple book for young children with a beautiful illustration of an animal on each page along with a description of the sound the animal makes.

IMG_8303What is really unique about this book is that the pages get narrower and narrower until the final page, where the illustration (of the cow) is made up of parts of all the previous pages that are visible.

IMG_8294We love reading this book to Poppet and making all the animal sounds. She seems to love turning the pages backwards and forwards. At the moment, short books like this are just perfect as she rarely wants to sit still. I am linking up this week with Carie at Space for the butterflies. Please do pop other to her blog by clicking the button below to link up what you’ve been reading with your children or to get some ideas.

Space for the Butterflies: What We're Reading
300 picture book challenge
Last week I had my mum to stay. We had lots of fun but I did not have as much time to blog so this is an update on what we read over the last two weeks. Because my mum was staying I did not take Poppet to our usual play groups or rhyme time sessions at the library so we haven’t read very many new books this fortnight. As I mentioned earlier in this post, at the moment she really does not stay still for any length of time so we are not reading as much for now. As always you can find the full list of what we have read so far (and a brief review of each) on my pinterest board.

Total number of books read this year – 84/300

  1. Oh that’s such a clever book – I love the construction of the cow at the end! You wonder how people come up with ideas like this, it’s so sweet!
